Administrative Assistant: EMSD Administration

Position Summary

The Administrative Assistant performs a wide range of administrative and office support activities for the Michigan Works Director, Planning and Policy Manager and the Michigan Works Southwest Workforce Development Board.

Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct research, collect and analyze data to prepare reports and documents.  Manage and maintain Director's schedule, appointments and travel related arrangements.  Arrange and coordinate meetings, events and communications.  Prepare and edit correspondence, presentations and other documents as well as monitor, screen, distribute and respond to incoming communications.  File and retrieve documents and reference materials.  Record, transcribe and distribute minutes of meetings.  Review operating practices and implement improvements in communications and social media practices where necessary.  Provide back up support to the Upjohn Institute reception desk as needed.  Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Associate degree required, bachelor's degree preferred.  Three years related job experience, proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant Microsoft Office software.  Attention to detail and accuracy.

Education and Experience

Knowledge of standard office administrative practices and procedures.  Self-directed with strong initiative.  Knowledge of Federal Workforce Programs.
